North Shore Cadet Unit
A youth organisation who develops young responsible leaders through the values and traditions of the New Zealand Army: Courage, Commitment, Comradeship, and Integrity.

The New Zealand Cadet Corps (NZCC), commonly known as Army Cadets, is the arm of the New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) aligned with the New Zealand Army (NZ Army), which is why we have similar uniforms, rank structure and training. A lot of the training, customs and traditions undertaken by the Army Cadets aligns with that of the NZ Army.
As an Army Cadet, you’ll receive all the common training that every member of the NZCF receives, but you’ll also receive the training which is specific to the Army Cadets! You don’t necessarily need to have a strong interest in bushcraft as Cadet Units offer a wide variety of training and experiences that are unique to the NZCF, and you will learn valuable life and work skills that will open new possibilities, opportunities and career options. You will be part of a team, develop leadership and survival skills, make new friends, experience challenges and learn to take responsibility.

The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) is a disciplined, uniformed organization which provides military-based leadership, personal development and operational training to persons aged between 13 and 18 years old. Through its three branches, the Cadet Forces provides personnel with a three-year training curriculum, while a number of unit, area and national courses provide further experience and qualifications in specific training areas. It is jointly funded by the Ministry of Defence and four national recognised Civilian Support Organizations. The NZCF is a non-profit organisation for the youth of New Zealand and their youth leaders.
Training is provided by Cadet Force officers and NCOs through 99 units nationwide, supported by three Cadet Force Training and Support Units, composed of NZDF Regular Force (RF) personnel. The Cadet Forces also play a large role in supporting community projects through volunteer labour. The NZCF currently has about 4,500 personnel.
