North Shore Army Cadets
A youth organisation who develops young responsible leaders through the values and traditions of the New Zealand Army.

What do we do?
We are part of the New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF), a non-profit, volunteer, youth organisation. We are a military-styled youth organisation that offers a challenging and varied range of activities and training. We carry out training in fieldcraft, military knowledge, firearms training, leadership, first aid, general life skills and more.
We meet every Tuesday night during the school term, at 9a Achilles Crescent
Narrow Neck. New cadets and supporters are welcome to come along.
Leadership
Develop the skills to lead others.
Progress through the ranks and earn responsibility.
As part of the curriculum, cadets are taught different aspects of leadership in theory and then are put into practice during activities.
Dicipline
Following the Army, we have a similar discipline value, this is promulgated through the rank structure.
Team Building
One of the first thing Cadets learn: Team Building. Work as part of a cohesive team.
Firearm Safety
Cadet Forces is the only youth organisation allowed to own and use firearms. Shoot with a .22 Marlin Rifle. Fire bullets, practice marksmanship, learn rifle safety, correct rifle maintenance and the laws of ownership.
Field Craft
Learn the basic skills to perform in a field environment. Camouflage & concealment, observation, and map reading.
Ceremonial Drill
Following the Army’s drill standard, learn commands of drill and use them in appropriate ceremonies. There are multiple uniforms for different parades and activities.

Join Us
We are open to all youth between the ages of 13 and 15. If you are 12 and attending secondary school, you may also join. Cadet recruits undergo six weeks of recruit induction, where you are given an introduction to cadet life and taught about basic drill, how the Cadet Unit operates, and how to care for the uniform you will be issued.
If you are interested in joining, please read about our Joining Information.
